Title: Bedford Town 1 Evesham United 2
League: Zamaretto League Premier Division
Kick Off Date: Saturday 28th November 2009
Kick Off Time: 3pm
Report by: Roger Worsley

Bedford's hearts were yet again broken by an injury time goal at the Eyrie on Saturday. This time the despair was more keenly felt as it proved to be the winning goal for Evesham United, taking the visitors away from the relegation zone, and leaving Bedford inside the dreaded bottom four.
All looked well for Bedford when top scorer, Ian Draycott, bagged his thirteenth goal - in all competitions - with just over fifteen minutes to go. But two late goals from the Worcestershire outfit made sure of the points.
With Aaron Cavill still injured and Stuart Wall forced to sit out the game because of a one-match suspension, Thomas Hole slotted in defence to replace the suspended player and Graham Clark made a welcome return from injury. Lee Howarth kept new signing, Junior McDougald on the bench.
From the start it was obvious that neither side was confident of approaching the game with a cavalier attitude, and this, obviously, made a big contribution to a fairly stagnant 1st half.
A mad couple of minutes early on, though, could have seen a goal at either end.
With just eight minutes on the clock, Stacey Field's run down the left resulted in a cross that would have reached it's intended recipient had Evesham ‘keeper, Nathan Vaughan, not flung himself at the feet of Ian Draycott, denying the Bedford striker a chance at goal.
A couple of minutes later, Mike Armitt had to rush just outside his area to deny Jermaine Clarke. The attempted clearance went to Marcus Palmer, whose awful lob from thirty-yards, epitomised the opening period, as it went wide of the mark.
The nearest goal attempt came after fifteen minutes. A Bedford corner, from the right, found Field, who managed to compose himself under great pressure, to rifle in a shot that was cleared off the line by Anthony Watson.
The 2nd half fared better than its earlier counterpart, in terms of entertainment.
Both sides changed their centre forward's at half time, with the eagerly awaited debut of McDougald, in place of Field, for Bedford, with Danny Lennon coming on for the visitors, at the expense of Clarke.
Three minutes after the re-start, Craig Daniel fired a low shot just wide of the right hand post.
With ten minutes of the half gone, substitute, Lennon, managed to evade the close attentions of Hole to cut into the area from the left, before firing in a shot that deflected off one of his own players, forcing Armitt to make a slight alteration to his direction; finally saving and holding.
As with most players who are new to a side, McDougald's determination sometimes bordered on frustration, and his commitment to the cause earned him a yellow card, and later on, a severe talking-to by the referee.
Bedford took the lead following a run from Daniel that was governed by his own determination. With three players beaten, Daniel crossed inside and Draycott took advantage of the big hole around the penalty spot to smack the ball, unimpeded, into the back of the net, giving Vaughan no chance whatsoever.
Evesham nearly replied instantly when Michael Hayden went on a run of his own, only to flash a shot across goal, and off.
With four minutes of normal time left, Evesham equalised when Lennon, looking suspiciously offside, ran onto a knock-down, and lofted the ball over Armitt and into the net.
Two minutes into injury time, it looked as though Bedford may have a bit of luck on their side for last minute goals, when Daniel embarked on another run down the right. This time the cross went inside to Jamie Cole, who in turn pushed it to Rob Miller, but the Bedford defender was unable to keep his shot low and the ball went over the bar
The killer blow came at the best moment possible for any team, with virtually the last touch of the match. A corner from the right, into a crowded area found the head of Palmer, whose touch found a gap to nestle in the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Bedford had time to kick off again before the final whistle was blown.
The defeat drops the Eagles into 20th position.
