
Tall, powerful defender who joined the Eagles in August 2011. He started his career as a youth team player at MK Dons, but failed to make a first team appearance. Upon his release, he was snapped up by Blue Square Bet Premier side Forest Green Rovers, who signed him up on a one year deal. The teenager impressed in his one season at the New Lawn, making eighteen starts for Rovers and scoring once. The summer of 2010 saw Thorne make the relatively short switch to Blue Square Bet South side Newport County, but a lack of first team opportunities early on in the season saw Thorne leave Spytty Park and move to Kidderminster Harriers, where he made ten appearances for Steve Burr's side
January 2011 saw Thorne join Rushden & Diamonds on loan. A permanent move was lined up at the end of the loan period, but Rushden's impeding financial problems saw the move fall through. After returning to Aggborough, he was allowed to cancel the remainder of his contract and join Blue Square Bet South leaders Braintree Town, where he made eight appearances as the Iron won promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier.
