Welcome To Bedford Town FC Official Web Site

Bedford Town's proud history stretches back to 1908 although after a period in the wilderness during the '80s, the Club was reformed in 1990 by a band of spirited supporters to once again see the Eagles fly.  A new home was found on the outskirts of the town and from humble beginnings, the Club once again has a stadium and facilities to be proud of.

A succession of promotions over the last 10 years, culminating in the dramatic play-off final against Chippenham Town in 2005/06. The 2006/07 season saw the Eagles competing in the Nationwide South, but unfortunately the club was relegated after only one season. Ambitions remain high for further progress up the football pyramid but for the time being everyone at the Club is looking forward to the challenge ahead in the British Gas Business Southern League Premier.

FMC STATEMENT (06/05/08)

Action Thumb

Bedford's newly formed Football Management Committee has re-started the Players Budget Scheme.
Fans can contribute by standing order to the scheme with all money going directly to player wages.
FMC chairman Dave Thomas said: "We are in the process of taking charge of the scheme. We have to sort out paperwork. In the meantime, you can still grab a form which gives us permission to sign you up and then get some simple paper work out to contributors.

Last season the scheme petered out with some contributors unsure of what happened.
We will make sure that contributors, or indeed anybody else who cares, get regular up dates on how much money is in that account. It's important that people know what is happening. If we sign a player that perhaps we couldn't have before thanks to the amount of contributions to the PBS, you will be told.
If 200 people pay £10 a month that will make a huge difference to the forthcoming season. Hitchin were getting in the region of £500 a week from their PBS. You could argue that kept them up.
At the moment the weekly wage bill for the level we are at now is not bad. But with real support from PBS we would be seen as millionaires at our new level. It will also allow us to build for the next two seasons. There is no point in winning promotion only to find ourselves in trouble again.
Lets make this clear: any money that comes through the gate goes straight into player wages. Any money raised by the PBS goes straight into player wages. Tell fans who have moved away that they can still contribute by joining up even if they can't get to many games.
A successful PBS will give everybody associated with the club a real boost. It's important now to get our club into a stronger position than it has in the past and we are all in it together on that score.
Not everybody can contribute financially, but you can always volunteer to do a turnstile and get in for free. It will save FMC paying somebody. Or volunteer to help the supporters club who will also be contributing towards the PBS.
email gerry.edmunds@bedfordeagles.net or call 01234 381213 for an entry form, or pick one up from the club, or send a sae to PBS 10 Northwood End Road, Haynes, Bedford, MK45 3PH. Or go to http://www.btfcsupporters.co.uk/.

EAGLES RELEGATED (19/04/08)

Action ThumbA 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Corby saw Bedford relegated today.
In a match that was the epitome of a six-pointer, the Eagles took the lead on twenty-one minutes through Matt Childs.
Corby equalised in the thirty-eighth minute, with a goal from Chris Glarvey.
With half time fast approaching, Andrew Stevens let a shot from Steven Diggin go through his hands to gift the visitors the lead.
With both sides contributing to an uninspired 2nd half, Bedford never found an equaliser, with the result consigning the club to a second successive relegation.
The last match of the season is next Saturday; 26th April when Bashley visit The Eyrie 3pm ko.
